Nine arrested in Mill Woods fire bombings

A 10-month investigation into a series of firebombings at several homes in Mill Woods has resulted in nine people, ranging in ages from 16 to 20, being arrested.

Police made the arrests Monday after a warrant was issued for 20-year-old Amir Ahmed Qureshi, who was charged with four counts of unlawfully making or processing explosives, along with a number of other offences.

Qureshi turned himself into police Monday.

“These arrests and charges are a perfect example of the hard work and dedication our officers put forth on a daily basis to protect the people of Edmonton,” Supt. David Vietch, with the services southeast division, said in a release.

Vietch says police worked with the Crown Attorney’s office during the investigation and further charges have yet to be ruled out.
