Police have charged a 22-year-old New Jersey man in connection with the fire that injured four children and one adult in the Wyckoff Gardens housing development early Sunday morning.

Thaddeus Boone, of Newark, has been charged with attempted murder, assault, burglary and arson.

Firefighters were called to 130 Third Ave. in Boerum Hill shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday, authorities said. They rescued a 5-month-old boy and 8-year-old girl from a fifth floor apartment. Both children were taken to Cornell Medical Center in critical condition, according to police.

Another infant, another older child and the children’s grandmother, 63, were also injured in the fire.

The New York Post reported that Boone’s 18-year-old girlfriend lived in the apartment and that the infant who was critically injured in the fire is her younger brother.
