No jail time for Amber Heard in Aussie doggy case

Amber Heard is off the hook — sort of. The actress pleaded guilty to providing a false immigration document in her high-profile legal battle over her and husband Johnny Depp bringing their prize terriers into the country without permission while Depp was making more “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie magic. While Australian officials had initially talked a big game about throwing the book at Heard over the matter, the prosecutors eventually decided to drop the more serious, jail-threatening charges of illegally importing the animals.

All Heard has to do now to be in the clear is pay a fine — of one thousand of their Australian dollars — and not commit any offense in Australia over the next month. Seems reasonable enough. Oh, and she and Depp did also have to record a terrifying, hostage-style apology video extolling the virtues of Australia’s ecosystem. At least I think they had to do it, since it certainly doesn’t look in any way voluntary.
