Screen Lounge The owners of midnight diner franchise Fran’s just opened Screen Lounge, an upstairs social lounge with an amazing rooftop patio in an inconspicuous spot right above the Yonge and College Fran’s location. Grab a bevy from the fully-stocked bar with classic ‘tinis and trendy cocktails while taking bites of some tasty tapas or raw bar treats.
3. 9 MRKT at 99 Sudbury Here’s a worthy idea: Turn a hot Toronto event venue into a local market where some of our city’s finest proprietors of gourmet and organic foods can tantalize our taste buds. Add a dash of killer art pieces and wares and a hint of Sunday strolling and you’ve got yourself a notable afternoon. July 24th, August 7th and 21st, 99 Sudbury Street.
4. Haute Culture: General Idea at AGO The talk of the town in Paris last spring is taking up residence at the AGO. Haute Culture: General Idea exhibition opens on July 30th, and features a collection of 300 works produced by the Toronto-based trio of AA Bronson, Felix Partz, and Jorge Zontal. Five themes showcase 24 years of General Idea’s achievements. July 30th through January 1st, 2012 at the AGO.
5. Blue Man Group at Princess of Wales Theatre The boys in blue are back for another short stay in Toronto. We know what you’re thinking, but if you haven’t checked out this comedic, multimedia-heavy show that fuses unique visuals and an equally interesting soundtrack then you have to grab a ticket and see why it’s a showcase we love to experience. July 19th through 30th.
6. TIFF in the Park Summer in Toronto is always packed with free outdoor movies with the city as your backdrop and the sweet summer air as your date. TIFF and the Toronto Entertainment District BIA are bringing us screenings of classic musicals at David Pecaut Square every Wednesday throughout the summer.
