Take note, New Yorkers: Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and what better way to show affection than to name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after your loved one?
The Bronx Zoo is once again offering the opportunity to name a new crop of cockroaches for Valentine’s Day 2012. With each name, a colorful certificate emailed to your loved one will announce that a cockroach has been named in his or her honor. (Naming rights also good for ex-boyfriends and mothers-in-law.)
To make the offer even sweeter this year, you can also purchase a Cocoa-Roach along with the name — a solid dark chocolate likeness of a Madagascar hissing cockroach, created by The Chocolate Box NYC.
It’s $10 to name a roach; visit www.bronxzoo.com/roach to place an order. All proceeds go to the Wildlife Conservation Society.
