Now George R.R. Martin really wants you to know that he does actually watch Game Of Thrones

George R.R. Martin has insisted that he does actually watch Game Of Thrones, countering his comments from earlier this week that he doesn’t have time to do so because of his hectic touring and writing schedule.

Game Of Thrones’ creator decided to email Entertainment Weekly to clarify his previous remarks, declaring that he can’t actually recall saying that he doesn’t watch the lauded HBO drama before then suggesting that his remarks were lost in translation. George R.R. Martin noted that during this trip he did tell reporters that he doesn’t watch any television, and that he has fallen behind on Game Of Thrones season 7, which is what he attributes to the confusion. However, Martin is now adamant that he does actually watch Game Of Thrones.

Earlier this week, Martin’s agent told Metro at Russia’s Assembly Con that his client had been unable to watch the most recent episodes of the show because of writing and “touring.”

In the past George R.R. Martin has been very vocal with his praise for the show’s actors, crew and producers, but has made a point of not discussing its current and upcoming storylines. Particularly because the HBO adaptation of Game Of Thrones has now moved beyond his quintet of A Song Of Ice And Fire novels.

Martin told Metro, “The book series and TV adaptations go their separate ways. On the screen characters are killed right and left. About twenty of them have died already, which are quite alive to me and will appear in a new book.” The latest speculation is that The Winds of Winter, his sixth addition to the series, will be completed at some point in 2018, which will coincide with Game of Thrones season 8, the final season of the hit HBO show.

The Game of Thrones season 7 finale will be with us much sooner, though, as The Dragon And The Wolf will air on HBO at 9pm EST on Sunday August 27.
