NYC really more vain than LA?

According to an analysis by The Daily Beast, New Yorkers are more vain than Los Angelenos — a hard thing to believe, when we’re up against a city that boasts shorts year-round. In rankings of the country’s vainest cities, New York came in third, barely beating fourth-place L.A.

The decidedly unscientific survey — ranked by personal care spending, gym memberships and overweight residents — placed New York behind winner San Francisco and second-place Boston.

New Yorkers shell out $81 each month on personal care — drugstore purchases, spas, salons and the like — according to The Daily Beast.

The site then calculated 44 percent of the population as not overweight, and 21.7 percent belonging to a gym.
