NYC vigil on Manhattan bike path to honor terror attack victims

candle light vigil

A candlelight march and vigil is planned on Thursday night in Lower Manhattan to honor the eight killed and 12 injured in Tuesday’s terror attack.

The vigil will begin at 6 p.m. at Pier 40 at West Houston Street, which is where the deadly attack began. Sayfullo Saipov, 29, drove a pickup truck into cyclists and pedestrians on a west side bike path. At 6:30 p.m., participants will march along the esplanade to Pier 25, which is just north of where the attack ended.

Marchers will pay respects at designated points along the path, Connie Fishman, executive director of Hudson River Park Friends, said in a statement.

At 7:15 p.m., people will convene at Pier 25 to hear remarks.

The Uzbek native told federal investigators on Wednesday that he “felt good” about the attack, which he had planned for a year.
