Choose from four kinds of lobster rolls, all of them so fresh they might still snap at you. With prices ranging from $16 to $20, you can have your crustacean hot and buttered, mixed with housemade mayonnaise, with a zing of basil vinaigrette or healthy on a bed of greens with lemon and tomatoes. We recommend enjoying one while strolling along the harbor at Red Hook Lobster Pound’s newly reopened location at Seaport Smorgasburg.
222 Lafayette St., SoHo
The princely sum of $30 is rewarded with a king’s ransom of claw meat overflowing from a large toasted roll (plus crispy fries and a salad). Customers at Ed’s Lobster Bar swear that this overloaded lobster roll, dabbed with just the right about of mayonnaise and scallions, is worth the price; we recommend a bib in case you get too excited.

A lobster Bloody Mary? Lobster huevos rancheros? Lobster dishes clearly get more creative when they’re served on wheels. That creativity carries over to Lobster Joint’s three types of rolls ($17-$19). Nothing wrong with sticking by the classic Connecticut, but you should trust your foodie instincts when they’re leaning toward the herb mayo in the chilled New England roll or the Club with avocado and bacon.
302 Metropolitan Ave., Williamsburg
How does this restaurant earn its name? Is it the spicy chipotle aioli served with heaping helpings of sizzling lobster on a toasted buttery roll ($27)? Is it their Tuesday deal of a lobster roll, a side of fries and a beer for $22? Is it the kitchen serving up these lobster rolls, along with favorites like fried chicken and patty melts, until 2:30 a.m. every day? All of the above, you lucky landlubbers.
39 W. 19 th St., Flatiron District
For ambiance, only being on the water beats eating in this industrial dock amid suspended lobster cages. If Burger and Lobster’s three-item menu and quick service don’t draw you in, maybe the $20 price tag for an entire steamed lobster will. The real star here, however, is their stuffed-to-the-brim lobster roll – get it with a side of lemon herb butter.
