Bill Cunningham, the Times’ intrepid street-fashion photographer, was grinning ear to ear throughout Anna Sui’s giddy, 60s-psychedelia presentation.
In fact, everyone was — even the usually dour models, who practically skipped down the runway in their diaphanous floral dresses, embroidered jean jackets, skinny Anita Pallenburg bellbottomed suits, and silky Chinoiserie-inspired pajamas — all worn with vaguely witchy-looking pendants.
Sui crams so many references, styles and eras into one look that it’s a wonder her collections cohere at all, but cohere, beguile and most especially delight they do. One of everything, please!
