A former FedEx driver is claiming that the NYPD has harassed and now assaulted him because he unwittingly gave directions to the gunman who killed Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu last December.

Karim Baker was unaware that Ismaaiyl Brinsley was planning to kill the two cops in last December’s fatal attack when he gave him directions to the Marcy Houses in Brooklyn, the New York Daily News reported, adding that police maintain they have no issue with Baker because he cooperated with their Brinsley investigation.

Baker, however, stated in the Daily News article that he has been stopped 20 times but never ticketed since last December, and he was eventually beaten by NYPD gang officers on Oct. 21 after being arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing cops, resisting arrest, and parking within 15 feet of a hydrant.

“I cannot really fathom a circumstance where a guy is pulled over 20 times in the span of nine months, never been given a ticket, and then on the heels of that, they beat the hell out of him and put him in the hospital,” Baker’s attorney Eric Subin was quoted in a related New York Post report.

Baker has denied he had any drugs on him and said he was legally parked when he was pummeled by cops, the Daily News stated, adding that the NYPD has claimed it was investigating the circumstances of Baker’s arrest because he suffered a cracked lip and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Baker reportedly filed a notice of claim Tuesday in Queens Supreme Court in advance of a state lawsuit, the Daily News stated.

He also has plans to sue the city for $10 million, according to the Post, which added that an NYPD spokesman said, “We dispute the allegations and have no information to corroborate these allegations.”
