NYPD announces Election Day street closures

For the first time since the 1944 contest between Franklin D. Roosevelt and Thomas E. Dewey, both presidential candidates will be ringing in Election Day in New York.

With that comes extra security measures and street closures near where Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have their election events planned.

Clinton will be camped out at the Javits Center while Trumpwill take over the Hilton hotel in Midtown.

Here are the streets that will be closed near both locations:

Javits Center:

  • West 34th between West Side Highway and 11th Avenue
  • 11th Avenue between West 34th and West 40th streets

Hilton Hotel:

  • West 53rd and West 54th streets between 6th and 7th avenues

Peninsula Hotel:

  • West 55th Street from 5th to 6th avenues

Trump Towers:

  • Fifth Avenue between East 55th and East 56th streets

Truck restrictions:

  • Fifth Avenue between 54th and 59th streets
  • 57th Street between Madison and Sixth avenues
  • Sixth Avenue between West 42nd and West 54th streets
