Those organizing the “Occupy Boston” movement scheduled for tonight on the Common said they are expecting “attendance numbers …much higher than we initially anticipated.”
To ensure a legal general assembly, organizers have worked with Boston Police, according to a post made by one of the activists behind the meet up.
The group said they have coordinated with Sgt. Bill Ridge of the BPD to discuss the rules at the park as well as what time they need to be out.
Jacks said interactions with police have “resulted in entirely courteous and civil discourse,” despite force demonstrated by New York City Police during the Wall Street occupations this week.
With hopes to start legal occupation in an undetermined Boston area soon, making tents and setting up tarps, the group is calling on members of the community to come forward for some basic needs.
“We need attorneys and law students who can help us research laws about camping, erecting structures, and general assembly,” it says on the WordPress site set up by Jacks.
“Soon we will need medics: doctors, nurses, med students, EMTs, and people who have undergone medic training,” she said.
Tonight’s meeting is intended to create working groups, and small-scale strategies, according to the site.
