Oil Kings’ bus gets stuffed

As many families are done giving thanks and have come out of their turkey comas, the Edmonton Oil Kings gave a busload of help to Edmonton’s hungry yesterday at Rexall Place.

With many of Edmonton’s homeless and hungry visiting various shelters throughout the weekend for a Thanksgiving meal, the Edmonton Oil Kings were collecting food to make sure there will be more to go around for the next holiday.

“We have a great turnout today, it is great to see,” said Wayne Huckin, driver for the Oil Kings and, on this occasion, in charge of transportation of donations.

The third annual Stuff the Bus gives the Oil Kings and their fans a chance to give a little back to the community by bringing down food and cash donations to fill the Oil Kings’ bus to help the Edmonton Food Bank.

“There are a lot of people going hungry in the city and this is one of the things the Oil Kings help fight,” said Huckin.

Parents of Oil Kings defencemen Drew Nichol, Jim and Colleen Nichol, were out in full support for the event yesterday with their donations.

“There are so many people who are not as fortunate as us and we are very fortunate to have enough to share,” said Colleen.
