Oilers prospects out to impress at camp

Some of the Oilers’ top prospects hit the ice yesterday at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park for a five-day development camp.

Among the 23 hopefuls is the Oilers’ 2008 draft pick, 19-year-old Jordan Eberle, who is hoping to see some NHL ice time this upcoming season.

“I’m just trying to perform at my best and see what happens,” said Eberle.

Eberle put on a memorable performance with Team Canada at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa, but is vying for a seat on the Oilers bench this fall.

“Where I want to be is with the big team,” he said.

This year’s Oilers development camp will run until the end of the week and will include a team-building session at CFB Edmonton.
