Online daters who have updated their OkCupid accounts recently might have noticed something different in the “About Me” section: a slew of new ways to describe one’s gender and sexuality.

Mic.com reports that select users of the popular dating site have the option of identifying as “Demisexual,” “Heteroflexible” and “Pansexual” among other terms in the sexual orientation section.

The daters who have been offered the new options can also now choose from 20 words to describe their gender, words that include “Transconforming,” “Other” and “Genderfluid.” While the site did not officially announce the new changes, it has been hailed as a welcome change by many blogs.

OkCupid joins Facebook and Match.com on the list of social media sites that have updated their gender options in recent months, perhaps in response to a Change.org petition launched last year demanding that the site update its gender and sexuality options because “these binaries do not fit for all of us.”
