OMG: ‘Sprayable Sleep’ claims to help you rest peacefully

Have you ‘mist’ a good night’s rest? The Sprayable Sleep claims to deliver much-needed kip with just two squirts. The product is based on melatonin, a natural hormone that regulates our internal body clock and tells our brain to go to sleep. According to Yoshi Luk, from a Stanford University startup behind the Sprayable Sleep, the user must spray it on each side of the neck and each wrist, from 30 minutes to an hour before going to bed. A success on crowdfunding site Indiegogo, the product is available at $15, giving you a month’s worth of good sleep. Metro spoke with Luk to find out more.

How did you come up with the idea for the product?

One of the founders, Ben Yu, who studied biochemistry at Harvard, had a hard time adjusting to different sleep schedules throughout college, so he along with his father developed this spray to solve this problem.

Is it safe to be used every day by people who have insomnia?

Melatonin has been defined as a safe supplement to use in the United States, so yes. But there is not enough evidence to show if it is safe for pregnant women or children.

Why do you think people would choose this device instead of other products?

Melatonin pills give you more melatonin than you really need and our spray bypasses the digestive system and does not make you feel groggy in the morning.

You’re on Indiegogo. How has the feedback been from the public?

We’re currently 1,400% over our goal of $15,000, so I would say the public really likes the product.

Are you delivering only in the U.S.?

We plan to distribute this in the United States initially and then target global markets soon after.
