On the hunt for a job in tough times

Dozens of young people looking to find a job poured into Canada Place yesterday and some say they’ve been struggling to land a job within the last few months.

“It’s hard to get a job right now,” said 19-year-old Brandon Eady, who has been out of work since January. “Going through this recession has been a bit of a struggle. It’s been pretty stressful.”

The Edmonton Service Canada Centre for Youth hosted the summer job fair for the first time in three years, attracting more than 30 employers into Canada Place yesterday. The fair was also a chance for young people between 18 and 30 to brush up their resumes and interviewing skills, said co-organizer Tammi Chung. “We’re telling (the job seekers) to be very confident and excited about working,” said Chung.
