One North: Chelsea gets some class

One North

“We are one mile from Boston and a lot more affordable than comparable highly designed buildings downtown,” says Szary, of Gate Residential. “One of the reasons we were originally so excited about this project is Chelsea’s proximity to downtown. It’s even nearer than a lot of Boston neighborhoods.”

This joint venture between Gate Residential Properties and TransDel Corp utilizes local designers and offers up all the latest buzzwords in furnishings and finishes — quartz countertops, stainless appliances, resin-infused bamboo flooring. South End-based architect Dennis Duffy added enormous oversized chandeliers to the two-story atrium lobby, each clad in glass mosaic. The lobby’s sculptural installation wall was created by Radlab in Charlestown. South Boston-based Artaic created the mosaic tile while South End landscapers, Landworks Studio, had the task of turning the 7,000 square feet of outdoor space into an attractive “backyard” with a swimming pool, gas fire pit and grills.

One North has livability, too. The nearby commuter rail can whisk residents into North Station, or outbound to Newburyport. Communal amenities include a CrossFit studio, lounge and on-site dog day care.

STATS: One North of Boston features studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, ranging from about 590 square feet to 1300 square feet. Rents from $1395 to $2450 per month. For more info: 617-889-8030. www.OneNorthofBoston.com
