Local applicants gunning for the most sought-after job on the planet are patiently playing the waiting game.
Applications for Tourism Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef caretaker position officially closed Sunday, leaving Brisbane staff with 34,648 videos to review.
“There are so many applications that came in last-minute — some of them are really good,” said local hopeful Linda Hoang.
Last-minute entrants included Metro blogger Stephanie Brown, who revealed her video to the world at the zero hour.
“I almost lost my shot at winning by submitting my video at the last minute because of technical errors, which was terrifying … it gave me enough time to really immerse myself in every stage of the contest by writing about its progress and scoping out the competition,” Brown said.
