Mille Ballai, a co-owner at a Rio de Janeiro hostel that was popular with World Cup tourists, was found dead Saturday in a Rio de Janeiro favela, reports the AP.

Ballai, 34, is from Sweden. Police found his body in his hostel Pousada Alto Vidigal and are investigating the case as a homicide. The hostel is in the Vidigal neighborhood, which is a slum near Leblon beach.

A source told Metro that Ballai moved to Brazil to invest in real estate and wanted to help improve one of Rio’s poorest neighborhoods. The source said Ballai has spent most of his time this past year in Brazil.
