Paint the town red

It was red dresses, red carpets and a red-hot night at the Commodore last weekend as local celebs came out to support the GLBA (Gay and Lesbian Business Association) 2008 Red Dress Ball. I was very honoured to be asked to co-host on the red carpet alongside Joan-E, drag queen extraordinaire and actor from the movie Connie and Carla. Performances by Five Alarm Funk, Sweet Soul Burlesque and Symone rounded out an evening of fundraising for the Youth Scholarship Fund. But the heat didn’t stop there as the Jet Set Crew gang got a jump on summer with a High Rollers invite-only party at Edgewater Casino featuring Fierce Angel’s heavyweight DJ Mark Doyle direct from London. Also, congratulations go out to the Smoking Dog restaurant in Kits on its third anniversary. Blues man Jim Byrnes entertained as guests filled the patio and sipped from selections featured on the new wine list. Cheers!
