The Paragon Theatre is setting up a new venue on Gottingen Street. It is hoping for a spring opening in the former Marquee space.
“Filling the Marquee’s shoes is an audacious goal, but we feel we have something that caters to a wider Halifax community, something for everyone,” says artist Peter Farmer.
Farmer, as well as Craig Mercer and Mark Townsend, the former Marquee general manager, is leading the project.
They want to renovate the top floor to make it into a venue suitable for live music, weddings and other functions.
A café, art gallery and pre-show warmup area will be added in the building.
“I’m most excited about the flexibility to cater to artists through live art projects and community art classes,” Farmer said.
