Drivers got a one-night clemency from overnight parking ban tickets on the first night.
The ban officially kicked in at just after midnight yesterday but no tickets were found on windshields later that morning.
“We understand people may still be learning about the parking ban coming into effect so we allow a one night’s grace,” said Shaune MacKinlay, HRM spokeswoman.
But now the kid gloves are off and police will be ticketing vehicles parked on the street between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. It’s a $50 ticket which jumps to $82.96 if it isn’t paid in 60 days.
