Patriots blast Cowboys, 30-6, move to 4-0 on the 2015 season

The Cowboys (2-3) were once the most hated football franchise in the U.S. despite owning the moniker of “America’s Team.” The Patriots (4-0) have long since assumed the throne of the NFL’s most disliked, and Sunday afternoon they continued their “imperial march” of 2015, beating Dallas in their house, 30-6.

The core of the dislike is certainly based off of jealousy, and at AT&T Stadium the Pats gave the rest of the league plenty more reason to be envious. Tom Brady was an efficient 20-of-27 for 275 yards and two TDs, Julian Edelman caught four balls for 120 yards and a touchdown, and the Patriots’ defense played their most dominant game of the season thus far.

The Pats defense forced six Dallas three-and-outs in the first half and did not allow a Cowboys touchdown. Dallas QB Brandon Weeden was held to just 188 yards passing and was picked off by Logan Ryan.

Dallas still had life early in the second half but Pats back Dion Lewis stomped that out. Lewis made a one-handed catch coming out of the backfield and then juked out what seemed like the entire Dallas defense before entering the end zone to put the Pats up, 20-3, with 9:50 left in the third quarter.

New England got off to a relatively slow start against Dallas as the score was tied, 3-3, after one quarter. Brady was hammered by the Cowboys defense in the first half as they registered five sacks in the first two quarters. The reinstated Greg Hardy accounted for two of them and got to Brady plenty throughout the course of the game. Sunday was the first time Brady was sacked five times in one half for the first time in his career.

But Brady and the Patriots’ offense figured things out by the end of the second quarter as they went 55-yards on seven plays in 2:18 to go up 10-3. Brady scored the Pats’ first touchdown himself with a patented one-yard, QB TD plunge.

Stephen Goskowski booted the longest field goal of his stellar career, a 57-yarder, to put the Pats up 13-3 heading to the half.

The Patriots now shift their attention to the Colts, who they will play in Indy next Sunday night.
