Boston is a world-class city, but not one in which major professional athletes seek out to visit smack-dab in the middle of their off-seasons. When Arian Foster was spotted at Logan International Airport this week, more than a few eyebrows were raised.

Could the Patriots be interested?

Foster was seemingly not a favorite of Texans head coach Bill O’Brien and O’Brien is trying everything in his power these days to be Patriots-Lite. It would be odd to see an O’Brien castoff get welcomed by the varsity squad in Foxboro.

There are also more viable fits across the league for Foster. The Broncos reportedly contacted him, according to Cecil Lammey of 104.3 The Fan, and Foster in Denver makes some sense considering he thrived under Gary Kubiak. The reason why a Kubiak-Foster reunion would not happen, however, is that Denver already has three capable running backs on its roster.

Miami has been linked to Foster for weeks now, but obviously there is not yet a deal in place. Lamar Miller jetted to Houston, leaving the Dolphins with Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake in the backfield.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoporttweeted out on Friday that “Arian Foster is in town, but not to visit the Patriots.”

Patriots fans immediately jumped on Raport’s tweet. In a reddit comments section, FunkyMunniezsummed it up nicely.

“In seriousness, what else would he be here for if not to visit the Pats?”
