INDIO, Calif. – Three years ago it was Madonna. Last year: Prince. This year, the Coachella music festival is being anchored by another icon, perhaps rock’s biggest – Paul McCartney.
The former Beatle is the headliner at the first night of Friday’s three-day Coachella extravaganza. Morrissey, Leonard Cohen and the Hold Steady are among the other perfomers throughout evening.
The three-day festival includes some 120 musical acts, from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to TV on the Radio.
Las Vegas-based Killers and M.I.A. headline a more youthful Saturday lineup. My Bloody Valentine and The Cure cap off Sunday night.
