Peabody Police hauled in 670 grams of heroin on Friday after a “multi-jurisdictional” operation involving several branches of law enforcement hit paydirt when they searched a suspect’s car.

Authorities charged Luis Espinal, 26, of Roslindale with trafficking over 100 grams of a Class A substance.

Officials said that the 670 grams has a street value of about $70,000.

Peabody Police teamed up with a narcotics team from Everett and the DEA in what they are calling a “significant seizure.”

Peabody Police Chief Thomas Griffin told the Salem News that the drug bust was a “direct reflection of the opioid epidemic that has riddled communities throughout the North Shore, the State of Massachusetts and beyond.”

Espinal was held on $1 million bail in the Middleton jail. He is set to face arraignment on Monday morning in Peabody District Court.
