Metro readers apparently felt put-off by anaggressiveSen. Tim Kaine and overwhelmingly proclaimed Gov. Mike Pence the winner of the vice presidential debate in the Metro Readers Poll.

In the unscientific poll, 95.3 percent of the readers who participated said the RepublicanIndiana governor prevailed in Tuesday night’s debate. Only 4.2 percent deemed the senator, a Virginia Democrat, the winner.

A half of one percent declared the debate a tie.

Inexplicably, five times as many people voted in Metro’s online poll about the vice presidential debate as those who voted after last week’s Clinton-Trump debate (In that unscientific poll, 63.6 of those who participated picked Trump as the debate winner).

Of those who included comments with their online vote in the poll on the vice presidential debate, several criticized Kaine’s style.

“Tim Kaine was a real pitbull,” wrote onevoter identified as Karona. “He was obnoxious and difficult to listen to.”

A voter who identified herself as Mary wrote: “I was extremely impressed by Mike Pence’s performance, his knowledge of the issues, his composure under constant interrupting by his opponent and his demeanor.”

The impact of the vice presidential debate as reflected by scientific polling might notbe available for days. The first presidential debate gave Democrat Hillary Clinton a boost in national polls. A CBS News Poll following the debate showed that 45 percent of likely voters who participated favored Clinton and 41 percent supported Republican Donald Trump.
