Perez Hilton and Black Eyed Peas frontman engage in war of words after MMVAs

TORONTO – Perez Hilton and Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am engaged in a war of words through Twitter posts and online video rants Monday after the celeb blogger claimed he was punched by the band’s manager following the MuchMusic Video Awards.

Hilton began tweeting early Monday morning, just hours after the conclusion of the raucous music bash on Queen Street West.

“I was assaulted by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards,” he wrote.

“I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke.”

Hours later, will.i.am posted a video disputing that story. He said a fan was the one who got close to Hilton.

Just a short time later, Hilton responded with his own expletive-laden video rant, countering will.i.am’s version of events.

“God knows it was not a random fan that hit me,” he said.

Hilton – whose real name is Mario Lavandeira – said he’d had words over the weekend with Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, who was upset about some of the things he’d written about her on his website.

Then, he said, at an MMVA after-party, will.i.am approached him “like a heat-seeking missile” and asked him not to write about the Black Eyed Peas again.

Hilton – who is openly gay – said he didn’t want to let will.i.am intimidate him and decided to call him a “faggot.”

“I knew it was going to set him off,” Hilton said in the video post.

He said that he left the club, but was met outside by will.i.am and claims he was subsequently punched in the eye by Black Eyed Peas manager Polo Molina.

Toronto police Const. Tony Vella said a Liborio Molina, 36, of California was arrested and charged with assault after an incident near a downtown bar at about 3 a.m. He’s set to appear in court Aug. 5 in Toronto.

The online battle between Hilton and will.i.am continued to rage throughout the day, with other celebrities contributing their two cents worth.

Teen star Miley Cyrus – who was not at the MMVAs – twittered about her concern for Hilton. “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest invited Hilton and will.i.am to appear on his radio show.

Will.i.am later posted a video on dipdive.com, accusing Hilton of distorting what had transpired.

“This dude twists it and says I assaulted him,” he said in the video.

“…Come on, dude. I didn’t hit you. I told you that I didn’t like the fact that you disrespected us. It’s cool to have your opinion.”

Will.i.am then noted that instead of calling the police, Hilton twittered about the incident.

“It sounds like somebody wants mad attention and is not really concerned about his health,” he said.

Hilton has said he called police before he began tweeting.

The Black Eyed Peas appeared at the MuchMusic Video Awards as performers and won the award for best international video for their hit “Boom Boom Pow.”
