No word on whether Phil Jackson had to sit through an HR meeting on his first day on the job with the Knicks, but he did get a chance to meet with his new team — and beleaguered head coach.

“We spoke a little bit today,” Mike Woodson told reporters pregame last night. “[He] came in and introduced himself to the coaches and we chatted a little bit.”

The Knicks introduced Jackson with much fanfare Tuesday as he took the reins as president of the organization. He was gracious toward Woodson and his superstar Carmelo Anthony despite uncertain futures for both. Jackson indicated he would like Anthony to return even though he can opt out after the season.

He was complimentary of Woodson, though reports have indicated Jackson would like to bring in his own coach.

Owner James Dolan admitted he initially spoke with Jackson about being head coach of the Knicks.

“He has that right to talk to anyone about a coaching position,” Woodson said Wednesday. “It happened obviously, but I’m the coach of the Knicks right now. I still have a job to do and as long as I’m coach of this team, I’m going to try to put my best foot forward in terms of trying to get this goal accomplished in terms of trying to get this team into the playoffs.”
