4 new restaurants to try this fall

Be the envy of your foodie friends and eat at one of these spots first.

Scarpetta’s Spaghetti Tomato & Basil is a must-try.

As fall breezes in, going out to eat becomes even more enjoyable now that we’re free of the scorching temperatures, excessive humidity and the thought of wearing a bathing suit. Lucky for us, the only heat to be had during sweater weather (aside from global warming) is coming from the kitchens of Philly’s hottest new restaurants. From Rittenhouse to Fishtown, here are four noteworthy newcomers worthy of feeding your appetite, as well as your Instagram.

Opening in early to mid-October
15th and Locust streets

If you love beer, cider and pizza, the newest restaurant from Teddy Sourias will surely become a fall favorite. Featuring wood-fired ovens and an open kitchen design, Cinder will serve up pizza with both creative and classic twists using local ingredients. Beer will flow from copper pipes and nonbeer drinkers can quench their thirst with their extensive wine list and custom cocktails. With the success of Uptown Beer Garden, BRU Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn and Finn McCool's, this is sure to be another hit for Sourias and Craft Concepts Group.

Mission Taqueria
Opened two weeks ago
1516 Sansom St.

Inspired by the lively energy of Mexico City and San Francisco’s Mission District, Mission Taqueria is a place to eat, drink and socialize. Offering both small and large plates with sharing in mind, the menu features an assortment of tacos, ceviches and empanadas, as well as dishes made for four to six guests, like the Lamb Barbacoa. Cocktail fans will be happy to see their list of signature sips, including the Bee Sting, made with tequila, lemon and jalapeno-infused honey. Oh and did we mention there’s a juice bar next to the actual bar? Your drinks have never been fresher.

SLiCE (Fishtown)
Opening September 2016
431 E. Girard Ave.

Craving organic pizza in Fishtown? Marlo and Jason Dilks will be opening the fourth location of their Trenton-styled pizza empire on Girard, but this is their first location with a focus on organic, natural and hormone-free ingredients. The menu will include some new pies as well as a selection of gluten-free options. If you’re craving something sweet, they’ll have made-to-order donuts available too, with speculoos (cookie butter) dipping sauce. Yum!

Opening Late Summer 2016
210 West Rittenhouse Square

You know Philly’s food scene is hot when famous New York establishments want to move in. Scarpetta first opened in New York’s Meatpacking District in 2008 and was named the Best New Restaurant in America by the James Beard Foundation that same year. The first Philly location opens soon at the luxury hotel, The Rittenhouse, and will feature pastas made in-house daily, including their famous Scarpetta’s Spaghetti Tomato & Basil. Buon appetito!
