“The Vous” feels a bit like it’s being held together with duck tape, but that's part of its charm. The beer is cheap, there’s always something on special, and the game-watching crowd is appropriately enthusiastic without breaking your eardrums. Plus they’ve packed an awful lot of TVs into not a huge space. If beer isn’t sufficient, try the rotating Shot of the Week – unless it’s the Swedish Fish one, in which case, as your friend, we have to advise against it.
City Tap House
3925 Walnut St., University City
Beer drinkers can choose from 60 drafts at City Tap House, from Bud Light for the bros to unusual craft brews. Can’t decide? For $16 get a flight of four different beers. The menu goes way beyond wings and potato skins, with options including mussels, Korean short rib tacos, seared salmon and plenty more. The newer location at 2 Logan Square is another safe bet.
1150 Filbert St., Center City
Field House took all of the TVs for itself. With more than 35 high-def screens, you’ll have no trouble finding the right angle to catch the game — though we can’t promise you’ll find a seat in this always-packed spot. Choose from more than 40 local beers and order the Bavarian soft pretzel, mac and cheese squares, and fried pickles to snack on. The crowd skews young and excitable.
118 Chestnut St., Old City
Multitask your playtime at the Philly outpost of Buffalo Billiards, where you can play pool, skeeball, darts or even shuffleboard while watching the game on any of the 17 HDTVs. The menu is heavy on hearty bar staples like chicken tenders, quesadillas and burgers, and the beer list ranges from $3 PBR cans to craft drafts like Free Will’s Community Kolsch and Dogfish Head’s seasonal Aprihop.
