There’s a new musical in town, and aside from appealing to theater aficionados, it appeals to baking fans, too. “Cake Off” follows the journey of Paul, a single dad with a passion for baking who enters into the 50th Annual Millberry Cake Off. The stakes are high in this fictional competition — the winner snares $1 million prize. Baking veteran Rita proves to be a fierce opponent, however, and an obstacle in his ascent to sugary success.
After the performance, Alex Fraser, producing director at the Bucks County Playhouse, hosted a Talk Back session with the show’s writers, cast and a special guest — Christina Verrelli of Devon, Pennsylvania, the 2012 winner of the Pillsbury Bake-Off contest. Verrelli won the $1 million for her pumpkin ravioli with salted caramel whipped cream.
