Cop caught masturbating said he was doing it to stay awake on his drive home: Police

A Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, police officer told authorities he was only trying to stay awake when he was caught masturbating in public this week, police said.

Glenn C. Woolard, 35, was heading home from his shift Wednesday morning when he allegedly pulled down his basketball shorts and exposed himself while driving, The Morning Call reported.

A woman driving alongside Woolard reportedly told police that he was “waving it around” and fondling himself in full view of other drivers. That victim was able to get a license plate, leading police to Woolard’s home.

There, Woolard allegedly confessed to that and another incident a week earlier in a Target parking lot, where a woman said his window was down “as if he wanted to be seen,” according to records obtained by Philly.com.

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin emphasized at a news conference that Woolard was off-duty during the incidents, driving his own vehicle and not in uniform.

Hereportedly saidthere were no other known incidents at this time, but that more victims may come forward as the case proceeds.

Woolard was arraigned Friday and released on his own recognizance. His next court date was not immediately available.
