Cuba Libre Restaurant celebrates National Rum Month

You will probably see Captain Jack Sparrow roaming around Cuba Libre Restaurant as they celebrate National Rum Month. Step into paradise all through August with a special rum flight of three types of Don Q rum — Gold, Anejo and Gran Anejo — or the Tour of the Caribbean flight. The Tour of the Caribbean includes Bacardi Solera, Mount Gay Black Barrel and Clement VSOP.

Both flights are available Aug. 1-31 during lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Then on National Rum Day, held on Aug. 16, all rums and rum cocktails will be half-price at happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. at the bar. Try a Cuba Libre, a few drops of lime or lemon juice, rum and soda, or savor one of their 90 plus varieties of rum from excotic locales like Guyana, Haiti, Nicaragua and Tortola.

So why celebrate rum? Chef and partner Guillermo Pernot says, “Rum is a fundamental part of Cuban history, and an essential part of the culture at Cuba Libre, which is why we are celebrating this spirit for the entire month of August. Rum is a spirit that is perfect for sipping, and Cuba Libre’s special rum flights will allow anyone from a rum expert to a rum novice to taste and enjoy the unique flavors of each pour.”

If you aren’t a rum connoisseur, this month is the perfect time to start learning — and if you already love the sweet liquor, why celebrate for only a day when you can enjoy the whole month? Believe me, this month you won’t be asking why all the rum is gone!
