A Mayfair mom made headlines this week after a letter she claims an anonymous neighbor sent her complaining about her autistic son went viral, reports said.

Bonnie Moran, 32, a mother of three sons (two who are autistic) told Philly Mag she received the anonymous handwritten letter on Saturday and was shocked to read what it said about her 3-year-old.

“Sent from ‘one of your neighbors,’ it refers to [Moran’s] son as a ‘screaming brat,’ complaining that the noise the child makes is ruining the nice weather, even using a derogatory term for people with mental disabilities,” PhillyVoice reported.

Here is the unedited letter in full, as reported by Philly Mag:

“I was so angry,” Moran told PhillyMag “I was all red. And then I just sat down and cried for hours. How can somebody be that mean?”

Moran then took the letter to Facebook where it went viral, 6ABC reported. It was there where people posted comments expressing their support and to set up playdates.

“I’ve got so many playdates lined up for him now,” Moran told PhillyMag. “I was approached by parents in the area who have children with disabilities, and they all understand. I used to feel so alone before this. It’s great to know you’re not the only one out there. Turns out that people on my block are going through similar things.”

City Council member Derek Green, a fellow parent and autism advocate, joined the discussion and encouraged whoever wrote the note to educate themselves, 6ABC reported.

“A child on the autism spectrum has a learning difference, they deal with things differently and interpret things differently. I think we need to have more acceptance and awareness,” Green told 6ABC.
