National French Fry Day in Philly

No one has the discipline to resist french fries. They add a salty, slightly crunchy pop to any dish — from burgers to breakfast burritos — and can even stand on their own as a main course. Given that today is National French Fry Day, we made a list of our favorite spots in Philly to indulge in this great American culinary staple for a bargain.

Taproom on 19th

1900 Ritner St.
South Philadelphia

From 11 a.m. to midnight, french fries will be half price and special off-menu items will be offered.

“What pairs better with beer than french fries?” says Taproom co-owner, Mike Strauss.

Try the Ma Po Tofu Fries topped with spicy pork, tofu and Ma Po sauce for only $5.50.

The Little Lion

243 Chestnut St.
Old City

This relatively new Old City hotspot has amazing handcut fries that accompany many of their dishes. But if you want to try something really special, go for their Southern Poutine which is $5.00 all day and includes fries tossed in dry rub, with house pork belly, housemade farmers cheese sauce, fried egg and scallion. Talk about decadent!

P’unk Burger

1823 E. Passyunk Ave.,
South Philadelphia

Buy a burger or shake and get fries for only a buck! You can choose either thin cut Idaho fries or sweet potato fries with sea salt, Old Bay or plain. Yum!
