Philadelphia Collection: Four style events not to miss

The focus is on fashion in Philly right now with the Philadelphia Collection.
Check out street style for both men and women at Fashion Under the Shambles. Provided

Philadelphia Collection, the annual week of style events, is as much about showing off what Philly has to offer as it as about designers showing off their clothes.

Stores, stylists, fashion students, “Project Runway” winners and more are participating with truck shows, open houses, sales and talks, now through Oct. 14 (with an extra event on Oct. 19: the XIX Most Fashionable Women in Philadelphia soiree).

This is the sixth year for Philadelphia Collection, which was set up by the City of Philadelphia, Center City District and the Philadelphia Retail Marketing Alliance.

It’s only fitting that the models in this runway show will be strutting their stuff outdoors, where street style belongs. Look for looks from boutiques, salons and designers all based on and around South Street — “the hippest street in town” — in this hyper-local show. RSVP for a free standing-room ticket at Philadelphiacollection.org, or buy a $15 VIP ticket to get a seat and a drink. Cory Wade, singer, occasional drag queen and model (he was a finalist on “America’s Next Top Model”) will host again this year.
