Philadelphia has a lot going on this weekend, and that means there will be several road closures, traffic delays and redirected routes.
If you plan on traveling into the city this weekend, you should be aware of all the roads that will be closed or potential traffic delays.
Saturday, Sept. 24
Open Streets
On Saturday, Philadelphia will host itsannual FreeStreets event that will take place on along South Street, from Front Street to Schuylkill Avenue and areas near the Please Touch Museum. The event is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. According to the Philadelphia Police Department, South Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Crosstown traffic will be allowed to cross South Street at the following intersections:
Asian Americans United Festival and Parade The following streets will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. and will reopen at 10 p.m.:
Southbound on 10th Street will be closed at Race Street.
Ratha-Yatra Parade The parade will take place along the Parkway, between 16th Street and Eakins Oval.
Expect road closures and traffic delays in the Ben Franklin Parkway area from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 25
Global Energy Run
The Global Energy Run will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. All roads along the course will be closed until 10:30 a.m.
Expect road closures in the following areas:
Roads will also be closed in the area of Delaware Avenue near Shackamaxon and Marlborough Street. Parkway Run
The Parkway run begins at 8:30 a.m. The following streets will be closed beginning at 8:30 a.m. and will reopen around 11:30 a.m.:
