Police say they have arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old behind Archbishop Ryan High School after a scuffle over a potential narcotics sale.

The victim, who is in stable condition, told police that around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday he was at the woods behind the school on the 11000 block of Academy Road in Far Northeast Philadelphia with friends when two white males, 16 and 19, appeared.

They “walked up and approached the victim about buying some narcotics. The victim didn’t know the males and they exchanged hostile words with each other,” the police report states.

The two teens walked away while calling someone on their phone. A third male shortly appeared, pointed a black handgun at the victim, and then a fight broke out as all three attacked the victim, according to police. The victim was shot once in the leg and the males fled the area.

Bike cops from the 8th District later located two males fitting the suspects’ description on the 3800 block of Elmore Place, police said.

No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is ongoing, police said.
