A former State College Area High School teacher who offered students better grades in exchange for nude pics was sentenced to two-to-four years in state prison and four years of probation, according to a report in the Centre Daily Times.
Wesley Amy, 28, of Bellefonte, was convicted in October on several counts of sexual abuse and corruption of minors charges. He reportedly taught at the school for only seven months.
He was arrested after one of the students he approached told a friend, who then told a parent, according to the report.
“Students have a right to be safe from predatory behavior in schools,” District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller reportedly said in a statement. “This was a serious breach of the trust parents put in teachers and we are relieved his behavior did not advance farther and that the persons involved notified authorities when they did.”
