Toddler chews and swallows crack cocaine at West Philly day care

It is not known where the crack came from or how the little girl got it.

A toddler is under medical supervision after ingesting an unknown amount of crack cocaine at a West Philly day care,Philly.com reported.

According to police, the 3-year-old was playing outside at the Works of Learning Early Daycare on Haverford Avenue near 52nd Street Tuesday morning when a supervisor noticed the girl was chewing something which turned out to be a bag of crack cocaine.

“The girl was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where she remained Wednesday morning. Authorities said tests showed that the girl did ingest crack cocaine, so medical staff were closely monitoring her,” NBC10 reported.

Police are investigating where the crack cocaine may have come from, and child welfare services are reportedly involved in the matter.
