Where to watch the debate in Philly

Clinton and Trump are going head-to-head in the first presidential debate of the campaign and we’ll all need a stiff drink.

There are only 42 days remaining until Election Day and tension is mounting amongst Democrats and Republicans alike. On Monday, Sept. 26 at 9 p.m., Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will exchange in a war of words in the first presidential debate, taking place at Hofstra University in New York. While you may already have plans to watch Monday night football or get your passport renewal documents together in case this thing goes south, there's some more fun to be had. Instead of yelling at your TV, you’ll want to watch the first debate in a group setting with drinks — lots and lots of drinks. Here are some watch parties happening in Philly.

NBC10 News Debate Night

Monday, Sept. 26
Doors at 7 p.m.

At XFinity Live! in South Philadelphia, NBC10 will be hosting “Debate Night.” Audience members will be given a chance to voice their opinions and anchors Jim Rosenfield and Denise Nakano will host. There will also be a pre-debate discussion moderated by the CEO of the National Constitution Center, Jeff Rosen. This event is free to attend but you can’t bring outside food or drink to the venue.

Talk Radio 1210 Debate Watch Party
Chickie & Pete’s
1526 Packer Ave.
Monday, Sept. 26
Doors at 8:30 p.m.


Talk Radio 1210 will host a debate watch party at Chickie & Pete’s in South Philadelphia with a slightly later start at 8:30 p.m. Radio personalities Chris Stigall, Dom Giordano and Rich Zeoli will be providing commentary. In addition to free parking, there will be free pizza and crab fries — in case you need some comfort food.

NExT Philadelphia 1st Presidential Debate Watch Party
Gunner’s Run

Monday, Sept. 26
Doors at 8:00 p.m.

Hosted by NExT Philadelphia, a young professionals network affiliated with the Urban League, this debate shindig will offer food and drink specials at Gunner’s Run in Northern Liberties. While it is free to attend, registration is required so be sure to visit their Eventbrite page for details. There’s a possibility elected officials and candidates will be present as well.

Clinton vs. Trump: First Debate Watch Party
American Pub
15th and Market Streets
(Under the Clothespin)
Monday, Sept. 26
Doors at 8 p.m.

Philadelpha 3.0, Committee of Seventy, Influencing Action Movement and The Philadelphia Citizen will host a debate watch party at American Pub near City Hall. The cover is $5 and attendees can vote which nonprofit receives proceeds from the event. American Pub is also offering free snacks in the first hour, so you can eat your feelings without spending your drink money. You can RSVP in advance on their Facebook page.
