Laverne Cox is one of the hottest names in Hollywood and has quickly made a name for herself as a black transgender actress and LGBT advocate. She’s best known as Sophia Burset on Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black.” In Allure magazine’s nude edition, Cox joins celebrities Jordana Brewster, Sandine Holt and Nicole Beharie in a nude photo spread that includes interviews with them about how they feel about their bodies. RELATED: 12 famous transgender celebrities and public figures you should know Cox, 30, initially turned down Allure’s first request to pose nude, but eventually decided to do it. “ I felt this could be really powerful for the communities that I represent. Black women are not often told that we’re beautiful unless we align with certain standards,” she tells Allure during an interview about the spread. Cox adds, “Trans women certainly are not told we’re beautiful. Seeing a black transgender woman embracing and loving everything about herself might be inspiring to some other folks.” It’s great she made the decision to particpate in Allure’s latest issue and her goal is to inspire others.
