L’Wren Scott was a model and stylist long before she launched her eponymous clothing line in 2006. Though her high fashion label was fairly young, it was wildly popular with celebrities ranging from Penelope Cruz to Michelle Obama and had graced the pages of Vogue. Scott’s designs looked just as natural at Obama’s press conferences as they did on the runway, and her pieces were a fixture on fashion blogs.
Scott, who was also known as the longtime girlfriend of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, was found dead at her Manhattan apartment this morning. In a statement, a spokesperson for Jagger said he was “completely shocked and devastated” by the news.
Scott’s figure-skimming, shimmery gowns burned up the red carpets at the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Fashionistas Nicole Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker and Angelina Jolie were known for their L’Wren Scott habits. Jolie even allegedly met with Scott to discuss possible wedding gowns in 2012, according to Grazia.
