Leave it to roast master Jeff Ross to offend like no one else.
Ross, who apparently has no career other than hosting Comedy Central roasts of washed-up actors, showed up to last night’s roast of Roseanne Barr dressed as disgraced Penn State football coach Joe Paterno. Oh, and with two young men dressed only in towels and football helmets on each arm.
The nondescript “P” on his jacket referred not to Penn State he said, but instead for “people who can’t take a joke.” It’s really not worth my time or anyone else’s to get offended by Ross. Is it stupid and does it belittle so many victims of sexual abuse? Of course. It’s completely uncalled for. But it’s Jeff Ross. He does it to get attention. (And is, apparently, succeeding.)
I’m sure there will be plenty more outrage to come. And he’ll relish it.
The special won’t air until Aug. 12, but Getty Images treated us to a selection of red carpet photos. And might I say, they aren’t exactly politically correct.
