Playing the Field: Lee Corso vs. a 5-year-old

We here at Playing the Field love us some Lee Corso. Mainly because Corso always gives us some material.

Yesterday the GameDay crew was in Eugene for the big Oregon-Stanford matchup. The game turned out to be a classic, with No. 2 Oregon going down to the Cardinal and seeing their National Championship dreams go up in smoke.

But we liked all the goings-on before the game.

The celebrity picker was 5-year-old Braden Pape, an Oregon fan, who went toe-to-toe with Corso and Kirk Herbstreit. Needless to say, Corso didn’t agree with the little guy much. In fact, he dropped a “Not so fast, midget” on Braden after the Yale-Harvard (THE GAME!) pick.

But little Braden got the last laugh. His Yale pick was wrong, but turns out Corso and Herbstreit got owned on a couple of the big picks. Pape picked both Baylor to upset Kansas State and UCLA to upset USC. Not bad.

Meanwhile, as I took note of on my Twitter feed yesterday at noon, Corso came close to killing a live duck on the broadcast.

Corso and live animals don’t mix well. Stick around because right as they leave GameDay the duck legitimately appears to be gasping for breath. Presumably we would’ve heard if it died though, I guess.

And because we love Oregon so much apparently, here’s footage of Puddles the duck (as seen in the above video) literally losing his head while skydiving on Friday as part of a GameDay stunt. Classic.
