9/11 inside job conspiracy theorist interrupts Super Bowl MVP’s press conference

Just as news trickled out that Seattle Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith was named Super Bowl XLVIII MVP, a 9/11 conspiracy theorist interrupted the newly crowned champion linebacker’s press conference.

The man, dressed in plaid clothing, grabbed the microphone that Smith was sitting in front of and said, “Investigate 9/11. 9/11 was perpetrated by people within our own government.”

The man, who reportedly did have a press pass, was quickly escorted out of the room. NJ.com reporter A.J Pereztweeted this photo of the incident.

Smith, who became the first defensive player to receive the honor of Super Bowl MVP since Tampa Bay safety Dexter Jackson got the nod 11 years ago, said in response, “Somebody check his press pass” as the man was removed.

It was not the first time the 9/11 conspiracy theory was mentioned in connection with this week’s Super Bowl as Seattle head coach Pete Carroll is rumored to be a “9/11 truther.”
