Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was apparently not arrested early Sunday morning in Dallas. Now, regardless of the NFL’s criminality issues, a player NOT getting arrested isn’t usually news.
That is, unless the police department tweets he’s been arrested.
Maj. Max Geron from the Dallas Police Department tweeted Talib had been arrested at 6:53 a.m.
.@dallaspd arrest Denver Bronco Aqib Talib for public intox after he was throwing bottles causing a disturbance. Talib was danger to self

This would be very bad news for Denver, which just signed the former Patriots cornerback to a six-year, $57 million contract earlier this offseason. Geron went on to tweet further details of the incident.
#BREAKING Talib was arrested at about 1:45 this morning after being escorted out of Club Syn in 1200 block of Main St. #NFL

#BREAKING Talib was taken to the Dallas Marshall’s detention center where public intox prisoners are held and processed. #nfl

But, uh, one problem. The police didn’t arrest Aqib Talib, the professional football player. They actually arrested Yaqub Talib, the football player’s brother.
#BREAKING CORRECTION – Yaqub Talib 31yrs old was arrested. My apologies to Aqib Talib. Original information reported was incorrect.

Yeah, probably good to apologize for that one.
Sure, accidents happen, but as far as screw-ups go, the police department should probably make sure they actually know who’s been arrested before tweeting out the information — especially when one is a millionaire pro athlete. Hopefully no one asked for an autograph while he was being booked.
Mr. Geron should be thankful he’s part of a union.
